For the first time in — well, ever — I think I’ve finally perfected a skincare routine. I know I’ve shared a few products that I love on this platform, but I want to consolidate them here in a comprehensible way and tell you exactly why I love this newly discovered routine.
These products can be found in CVS, Target or wherever your favorite drugstore may be. I like to buy them on Amazon Prime since there’s free two-day shipping and they’re usually a couple of dollars cheaper, but nothing on this list is exorbitantly priced or hard to justify.
I’ll break it up into morning and night for the sake of simplicity, and include images following the descriptions in the correct order of use.
My new morning routine is nice, because it keeps my skin from looking oily all day long. I use a “luminous” foundation (Chanel Perfection Lumière Velvet in shade 20), so if my skin is too moisturized, it can look shiny after a few hours. I put my new routine (and face) to the true test this past weekend: I spent all afternoon in the sun, went out to dinner and then went out at night, and checked up on my makeup between dinner and the rest of the evening — usually I’m a greasy mess by this point, especially following a day in the sun, but I didn’t look even slightly shiny! Color me sold.
Here’s what I do:
My nighttime routine takes a little bit longer, but it makes all the difference in the morning. Some of it will look the same as the morning routine described above, but I add in a few steps and take away others. The most important part of an effective nighttime routine is to cleanse well, then replenish nutrients so your skin can revitalize itself in your sleep.
It sounds like a lot when it's broken up in this detailed way, but it's only a few minutes longer than a typical cleansing/moisturizing routine.
Overall, staying true to this routine for the past week or so has caused my skin to become more even, smoother, brighter and clearer. I just recently perfected it by adding the moisturizer; my cheeks were beginning to flake a little from the cleanser and Duo treatment alone.
As always, if you have any questions, please let me know! Thanks for reading!
